YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Sir Tiong Hiew King was born to a poor family in Sarawak, Malaysia in 1935. Although he had to tap rubber when he was young, he had a strong thirst for knowledge. He graduated from Chung Cheng Primary School in Sibu, and later Methodist High School and Sacred Heart High School.
Subsequently, he took up a correspondence course with a Chinese university as he knew there was no limit to what a person could learn. He began his working life at his uncle's timber company, which laid a solid foundation for his future development. In 1975, YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Sir Tiong set up Rimbunan Hijau. He showed the kind of perseverance that Fuzhou people are known for. Together with some of his brothers, Rimbunan Hijau Group established a solid reputation and has emerged as a revered multinational corporation.
YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Sir Tiong has worked on a global scale to erect a diversified business spanning six continents, whose countries and regions include Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Russia, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, British Guyana, Canada, and the United States. He also has investments in Qinzhou, Shanghai, Harbin and Guangzhou in China. Other than timber exports and timber processing, his business has also expanded to media and publishing, agriculture (oil palm plantations and mills), oil and gas, mining, aquaculture, reforestation, finance, information technology, trading and property development.
In 2010, YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Sir Tiong Hiew King was awarded "Malaysia Business Leadership Award 2010 – The Lifetime Achievement Award" by the Kuala Lumpur Malay Chamber of Commerce in recognition of his entrepreneurship achievements and contribution to the country. In Malaysia, there are four public listed companies under the Group, namely Subur Tiasa Holdings Berhad, Jaya Tiasa Holdings Berhad, Rimbunan Sawit Berhad, and Media Chinese International Limited. The Capitalists magazine named YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Sir Tiong as one of Malaysia's ten richest businessmen.

Property Development In 1995, RH Group commenced property development in Sibu, developing a new commercial area in the town to house the corporate headquarters of Subur Tiasa and Jaya Tiasa. It has also commenced a commercial property development project in Kuching.

Rimbunan Hijau PNG’s subsidiary company, Dynasty Development Ltd (DDL), is the master developer of the compact 10-hectare integrated mixed development of Vision City Waigani (VCW), Papua New Guinea. The first phase of this property development project is Mega Mall, a 3-storey shopping complex.
Trading & Retail Services Since 1983, Rimbunan Hijau General Trading Sdn Bhd has developed an experienced procurement team capable of servicing the high volume and wide range of products and services mirroring the diverse nature of the Group’s businesses. Its service division, Kejuruteraan Utama Sentiasa Sdn Bhd (KUS) provides a broad spectrum of rebuilding, repairing and inspection services for transport equipment ranging from heavy tractors, excavators, and trucks to passenger vehicles.
Rejang Green Agriculture Supplies Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Rimbunan Hijau Group, was established on 2nd January, 2004. It serves as backline support for plantation companies in the Group. It supplies a variety of agricultural products ranging from fertilizer, fungicide, insecticide, herbicide, stimulant, surfactant to personal protective equipment and tools.
RH Trading Limited has been in Papua New Guinea for more than 10 years and has earned the reputation as one of the largest retail and wholesale companies in the country. Since 1999, the company has invented new business strategy with clear vision and values to compete directly with the market. In 2003, RH Trading has pioneered the largest Hypermarket chain in Port Moresby.
Aquaculture – Prawn Farming In Malaysia, our Tiger Prawn project at Semariang, Kuching undertaken by TTS & Sons Sdn Bhd, incorporates improved husbandry practices and designs treatment facilities which help to ensure an environmentally friendly and sustainable aquaculture development.
Human Capital Development — Rimbunan Hijau Academy (RHA) RH Group is creating a pool of professionally trained young Malaysians with excellent prospects within the Group. This is the motivation behind the Rimbunan Hijau Academy (RHA), located in Sibu.
Biotech RH Biotech Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary company of RH Group, is an agro chemistry laboratory which is working towards ISO 17025:2005. It provides reliable analysis data for plantation technology and research development. Its main objective is providing analytical services on soil, plant, fertilizer and other agricultural materials for Plantation.
