Milestones – Greater Achievements (1996-2005)

10 years (1996 – 2005) have passed, and our 3rd decade has seen even greater achievements. During this period of robust growth, RH Group expanded into China, Russia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Brazil.

Newspaper & Printing
Malaysia
In Sarawak, during the years 1997 and 1999, RH Group strengthened its media operations by using fibre optics transmission technology, and operating print factories in Kuching and Sibu. Sin Chew Daily thus became the first national newspaper to be printed in Kuching via fibre optics transmission technology, enabling readers in Sarawak to get the same news as published in Peninsular Malaysia.

Hong Kong, USA and Canada
RH Group leveraged on its media experience and depth through its purchase of Hong Kong’s Ming Pao Group, a company that also has printing operations in the USA and Canada.

In March 2003, Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud declared the Launching of Planted Forests Project at Rejang Pelagus, Kanowit, Sibu. The Project is our response to the Government’s call to establish more than a milliion hectares of forest plantations in Sarawak.

Companies Listed On Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE)
In 1997, Subur Tiasa Holdings Bhd was listed on KLSE. It is involved in the manufacturing of veneer, plywood, particleboard, sawn timber, timber moulding and finger-joint products.

In 2004, Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad was listed in KLSE.

Trading Operations
In 2003, RH Hypermart Pty Ltd has pioneered the largest Hypermarket chain in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG).
